Guaparo House
Guaparo House
An Architecture of Expanded Domesticity.
Guaparo House reimagines domestic life as a continuous condition—one that unfolds beyond enclosed rooms and extends into patios, terraces, gardens, water, and landscape. Interior and exterior are no longer understood as opposites, but as different expressions of the same way of living.
Set along the edge of a sloping terrain in Valencia, Venezuela, the house develops as a succession of spaces that slide between enclosure and openness. Two intimate courtyards introduce light and nature between private and social areas, while a longitudinal swimming channel, terraces, and garden spaces extend everyday activities throughout the site.
A continuous horizontal ribbon organizes this sequence, expanding and contracting as it moves through the house. Beneath it, rooms open toward terraces and gardens, transforming conventional interiors into spaces that can grow beyond their physical limits. Above, extensive planes of glass establish a more direct relationship with the hillside and sky.
From the kitchen and bedrooms to the pool, grill area, and lower gathering space, each environment participates in the same idea: the entire territory becomes domestic. Guaparo House is ultimately a home without a fixed edge—an architecture where living continuously shifts between inside and out, intimacy and gathering, shelter and landscape.
