De Candido Express
De Candido Express
An origami as a free-standing building.
De Candido Express transforms the identity of a retail brand into an architectural system—simple, recognizable, adaptable, and capable of evolving across different urban settings.
Inspired by the logic of origami, the building is conceived as a continuous folded surface rather than a conventional composition of roof, walls, and floor. A single material language wraps and shapes the architecture, creating an expressive identity that can be replicated without becoming repetitive: the same logic, folded differently for each place.
Inside, color, light, and linear elements organize the shopping experience while maintaining a clear and human scale. Striped surfaces identify different areas, and continuous lighting reinforces the movement through the store, extending toward dining and gathering spaces.
Along Bella Vista Avenue, the building opens itself deliberately to the city. Its interior becomes visible, activity becomes part of the streetscape, and the boundaries between commercial space and public life begin to soften. Landscape, pedestrian access, parking, and architecture are treated as parts of the same urban experience.
De Candido Express ultimately proposes more than a prototype for a supermarket. It creates a flexible architectural identity—one capable of remaining recognizable while responding differently to every context.
