The Shadow House

The Shadow House

An Architecture of Intimacy.

Within Miami’s tropical waterfront landscape, The Shadow House emerges as an architecture of intimacy; designed to dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior life, creating a refuge where nature permeates every path, every framed view, and every daily ritual.

Conceived as a sequence of gardens, rooms, and open-air spaces, the home guides its inhabitants on a gradual journey; from the street to the water; where landscape is not simply observed, but fully inhabited. Each spatial transition filters light through layers of vegetation, structure, and shadow, creating an atmosphere where tropical living is experienced with depth, calm, and permanence.

At the heart of the project lies a simple yet powerful idea: in the tropics, shadow is not the absence of light; it is its most intimate expression.

Rooted in local craftsmanship and vernacular materials, The Shadow House balances warmth, texture, and contemporary precision. Stone, wood, vegetation, and filtered light work together to create a home where gardens become rooms, shade becomes architecture, and everyday life unfolds as a quiet oasis along the canals of Miami.
